Loving-Kindness (continued)

Just as the body requires physical training to be at its best, so too, does the mind require daily workouts to improve focus, clarity, concentration and healthier thoughts.  If we allow the negative to invade and occupy the mind, we become infected with the fear, dread, worry, anger and bitterness that can form roots within us.  It can spread like unwanted weeds in the garden of our minds if we don't tend to it daily.

A mental workout requires only a small portion of our time but offers major changes to our health by helping us to eliminate the negativity in our minds, replacing them with healing, powerful focus and concentration, as well as a mind centered on others instead of self, love rather than hate and flourishing rather than fear.

  1. Hi Melissa!

You gave a great analogy where we can become "infected" with so much negativity. Some people are raised with that type of thing, and, without faith, they are lost and have no hope. It is quite a challenge (but a doable one) to give ourselves time to clean up the mess in our brains each day, just like breathing.

    Cheers!

  2. Thanks for you comments.

It is a challenge when faced with negative experiences in life, feeling lost and without hope. Further still is the challenge when one has to continually live in a negative surrounding, longing for a happy ending or an escape from the adversity or affliction they are dealing with. Compassion is the key for those who can lend a hand, a shoulder, a prayer...whatever the inclination. Never giving up, pressing forward...taking one breath at a time can be an outlet to release from such tough situations.

I pray we are able to see such wonderful opportunities.

    Have a great week! :)
